BRIEF: Replacement dwelling following fire damage

• Stunning location directly on the coast, with just a single track road separating the site form the salt marshes to the Solent

• Following a fire, the original villa as reduced to just a single storey building

​​

• KDS formed an integral part of a wider design team of Interior Designers, Structural Engineers and Quantity Surveyors to design a replacement dwelling, based on initial sketch concepts

​​

• We worked closely with the New Forest National Park’s conservation officer to agree technical building details, materials, and overall design principles for the scheme

​​

• Once agreed, work started on site where we were heavily involved, assisting with steel work setting out, detailing queries from the contractor, and providing general assistance in the build

​​

• Raised ground floor allows views over the perimeter wall, glazed dormer cheeks with 180 degree views and open first floor ‘pepperpot’ veranda

​​

• Result is a stunning, 8,000 sq ft house that takes full advantage of the outlook
