WEEKS LANE FARM BARNS, BIDDENDEN

Weeks Lane Farm Barns started life as two ‘Atcost’ concrete portal agricultural buildings that were redundant, just outside of our home village of Biddenden, Kent. The barns are situated in a generous plot with far reaching views to the rear, and a pond.

Using our well established experience with this type of project, Kent Design Studio started working on the application for conversion In conjunction with well known local land agents, BTF Partnership. We secured a Class Q permission and the barns were then sold to our existing client, Southern Elm Developments.

Being a bespoke developer, Southern Elm Developments approached Kent Design Studio to alter the initial design to something more suited to the high quality product they deliver. A second application for these amendments was quickly submitted and approved.

Kent Design Studio then got to work on the technical stages of the project to include building regulations drawings and specification and also assisted with the project whilst it was on site.  A further application to extend the residential curtilages of both properties and the introduction of large double garages were also secured in order to add greater value to the properties for the developer and improved amenities for the future occupiers.

The end result is a pair of uniquely designed contemporary homes set in a great rural location, that respond successfully to their surroundings and make use of otherwise redundant barns.
